How to change Activity ID's - (with Backup)
In a schedule consolidation, the deliverables and activities lists are usually elements of multidisciplinary interaction between those involved in the project.
Standards ID's are often defined to identify Activities, but these values tend to change or evolve according to planning dynamics. Therefore, many times it is required to make massive changes in the Activity ID Field, with the need to trace the evolution of previous identifiers, and thus be able to compare old and current listings of lines of activities and milestones. Next, we will explain a set of steps to place new IDs, storing the old ones in UDF`s (Backup).
1. A User Field (UDF) is created that will be used to eventually store the old value of the ID. From Menu Enterprise> User Defined Fields ..
3. Once new UDF was created , make it visible in activities window (from columns panel):
4. Next we create a simple Global Change. It will make a copy of Activity ID values and store them in ID OLD. Click on Tool> Global Change...
5. Add (+) Global Change and we may name it ( Example: ID Store)
6. Click on Modify... for setting Global Change Parameters..
7. As well was explained in Global Change: A powerful tool , "If" section is to specify the dates sample that will be subject to change. "Then" section allows define the main change action, and "Else" allows you to optionally define changes in the initial sample that does not meet the "Then" condition.. In this case, we can define this parameters:
In this way the Activity ID values are stored in OLD ID (OLD ID=Activity ID)
8. Click on Change..
9. Select Yes.. and then Commit Changes.. and finally the data will be store in OLD ID:
10. With the backup, the Activity ID can be modified manually or massively, and the information will remain stored.
